Visitors can explore ancient churches and monasteries, such as the UNESCO-listed sites of Mtskheta and Gelati, steeped in centuries of religious and architectural significance. The country’s famed hospitality extends to its gastronomic delights, where traditional feasts known as “supras” showcase a delectable array of local dishes and wines, reflecting Georgia’s status as one of the world’s oldest wine-producing regions.
For outdoor enthusiasts, Georgia presents a playground of adventure, with opportunities for hiking, skiing, and even paragliding amid its diverse terrain of mountains, valleys, and Black Sea coastline.
The tourism value chain comprises a series of activities that encompass everything from the initial stages of trip planning to the post-visit phase. Key components include transportation, accommodation, attractions, tour operations, travel agencies, and ancillary services such as catering and entertainment. The economic impact of tourism extends beyond the direct revenue generated by tourism activities. A well-functioning tourism value chain stimulates job creation, supports local businesses, and contributes to the overall economic development of a destination.
This scenario contrasts with import-dependent countries. In such cases, the tourism value chain notably extends beyond the national borders, resulting in the outward flow of tourism revenues. To harness the positive impacts of tourism to the fullest extent, there is a need to optimize the spatial value chain and maximize the integration of local products.
